Massage Parlor Coming to Remsen Street?

The following item is on the agenda of the Community Board 2 Land Use Committee’s meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. this coming Wednesday, September 21, at room 2400 of the Dibner Building, NYU Polytechnic, 5 MetroTech Center:

Stefanie Marazzi, Esq., with the Law Office of Slater & Beckerman LLP, will present Board of Standards and Appeals Application #105-11, for a special permit to operate the Massage Envy Spa, a “physical culture establishment” as defined in the Zoning Resolution (PDF), at 147 Remsen Street.

Also on the agenda is a discussion of the business terms of the partial sale of the Municipal Building, at Court and Joralemon streets, for use as a retail space. Representatives of the City’s Economic Development Corporation will be present to address this issue. On August 15, Mayor Bloomberg announced that United American Land had bee selected to develop the property.

Finally, the Committee will consider the following applications for modification of properties within the Brooklyn Heights Historic District:

Massage Envy is a national chain.

  • Jorale-man

Perhaps the place next to Tazza on State will have some competition? (cue wah-wah guitar and funky bass line)

  • Elmer Fudd

Dave, you took the words out of my mouth. Ha, ha.

  • Elmer Fudd

Yeah, Jorale-man. Daffy told me about that place.

Apparently this chain is a really great – and reputable – national brand of spa that also has professional massages.

National chain — does that mean they’re into S&M, too?

  • David on Middagh

Chain?! Shop local. “Bait & Switch”, everyone–coming soon. Freshest nightcrawlers!

It’s about time we got a massage parlor!!

  • Matthew Parker

Peeps: There’s already an outstanding “massage parlor” on State Street off Court called Five Elements. Highly recommended Chinese Tui Na style of massage, and not to be confused with the happy ending parlor on Henry off State. Five Elements ain’t Bliss Spa, but if you need a good massage, this place is quite good and legit (e.g. no happy endings)

See my Yelp review: http://mattparker.yelp.com (you’ll need to scroll down a few reviews).

    It’s $55/hour, and $100/hour ($10 discount) for a couple.

its about time SOMETHING goes into that space.

It has been vacant for years, as is that particular block.
