Bees are beneficial creatures, too bad some people are terrified of them. Unless you are allergic, bee stings (venom) have positive effect on your immune system. Bee keepers have virtually no incidence of arthritis. (Yellow jackets that hover around trash cans etc.are wasps, not bees) Without the common honey bee, we would never have all of our delicious fruits to eat and nourish ourselves. Bees are good guys, love and respect them. Our farmers do.

I saw many bees like these in Brooklyn Heights gardens this past weekend. They aren’t honey bees; are they native bees?

    Those are all bumblebees, no?

(I assume bumblebees are truly native. I understand that honey bees aren’t really native to North America. They were brought over around 1600. )

They look like bumblebees in the photo, which are also beneficial.
