Bumbee- He seems to be quite the character. It’s really his sheer size that made me feel un easy as I mentioned i’m pretty small. I only see him when I get home from work., never in the morning when it’s more crowded.

Also OZU is a GREAT place for sushi.. dare I say better than Iron chef !

Does anyone have a suggestion on where to take my stepmother and family for a decent Mother’s Day Brunch in the Heights!?

    http://www.tedandhoney.com/

sorry posted a longer link before, try this.

  • monty

I think scootering is actually legal. Kids on small bikes are actually allowed on the sidewalk.

Hey BHeights1 – can they accomodate. say, 8 people? I’ll see if they have a brunch menu, thank you!

  • brooklynheights1

I would call them up and ask bc I am not 100 % sure and it would be best to make a reservation in advance since many go out for brunch on mothers day.. I’d also ask if they have a special menu for mothers day. I hope it works out ! a good fall back could be heights cafe.. it is decent.

Unfortunately I am not a fan of the HEights Cafe, but thank you!
I’ll look at Jack the Horse, I am sure they have a little something!

  • brooklynheights1

Oh yes ! JACK THE HORSE does have brunch and I have heard GREAT things about it, ( i’ve only been there for dinner). I would say that is a great choice !

  • Wrennie

I’d vote jack the horse (great brunch!) over ted & honey since the latter is pretty small–you’d probably feel less rushed at JTH. Also, Bubby’s in DUMBO is pretty good too–lots of space–but sometimes closed for private events, so it’s best to check in advance.

The new restaurant on Henry Street, Seasons, also serves brunch. I might check it out in the next couple of weeks.

Does anyone know what reality TV show is currently filmed at 1 Brooklyn Bridge Park, or better has the contestant living in there?

  • Eddy de Lectron

Bubby’s sucks. I cannot understand the attraction to that place. the food is expensive and mediocre at best.

@spm – read the parks/traffic department rules. Young children are allowed to bike and scoot on sidewalks/promenade. Certain wheel height applies.

I just feel like venting to complete strangers and I am sure i’ll get slammed for this, but does anyone else get annoyed when the elevator doors are closing in clark street staion and some “ahole”, squeezes there way in and the doors comes flying back open.. and you end up waiting ANOTHER 5 mins bc now even more people try to pile in. Sorry.. had to get that out. i’m done.

There is a very nice brunch place on Front St in dumbo with live music – Superfine – really enjoyed it.

Latest peeve – “steak” and “duck breast” served as little peices, totaling far less than a real steak or duck breast. Had this phenom at Jack the Horse which is otherwise an excellent restaurant. But $24 for five bite sized pieces of duck, no crispy skin, seems outrageous.
Served w/ a small portion of ultrasalty ratatuille. Not the only place this has happened. You and your date leave hungry having spent $100.
