Great lineup! Sweet Smell of Success is one of my favorites.

  • AEB

OK, I vote for “Midnight Cowboy,” which, actually, I saw about a year ago, and which is now–besides being wonderful–a period piece.

But then, it’s forty-some years old! Holy sh*t!

  • http://selfabsorbedboomer.blogspot.com Claude Scales

My favorite bit of dialogue (as remembered) from Midnight Cowboy:

Joe Buck: ‘Scuse me, can you tell me how to find the Statue of Liberty?

Woman with poodle: Last time I saw, she was heading to Central Park to take a leak.

  • mlo

speaking of taking a leak – are there plans for public restrooms anywhere along the waterfront park?

  • GHB

Who needs a restroom with all that river? Kidding. I voted for 12 ANGRY MEN

  • David on Middagh

Vote? Where? I couldn’t find any voting mechanism on the BBP site.

  • nabeguy

DOM, did you really expect the BBPC to allow the public to have a voice? (Sorry, but that was too easy)

  • AEB

    David, just click on this:

    OK?

  • AEB

Well, my “button” didn’t appear. I’ll try again:

    If no button–well, you’re on you’re own

  • Matthew Parker

    @mlo:

There are extant restrooms at Pier 1 and on Pier 6.

    I love you Peter Venkman!!!!

  • Marla Kesten

“Warriors come out to play” (clicking of coke bottles)

  • travy

    big business!

  • Dave

I love Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I especially like the parts where Mickey Rooney dresses up in yellow face and goes “ooh me sooo hungry. Ching ching chong ching chong.” Hilarious.

  • A Neighbor

I don’t understand. Why is it on Pier 1 — which they acknowledge doesn’t have enough room — rather than in the field on the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge where it was until last year? There was plenty of room — and the bridge was a breath-taking backdrop.

  • Eddy de Lectron

The Taking of Pelham 123 (the original not the awful remake)

  • Buggs Bunny

Trading Places. Pier 1 is in one of the final scenes. The ape and Beekman are going back to Africa to live in piece.

  • epc

@A Neighbor — the open field which used to be in front of the Tobacco Warehouse is to be occupied by Jane’s Carousel. Currently it’s a field of mud and construction debris.

  • Arch Stanton

Yeah the field and the view are ruined because of that stupid carousel. All for the whim of some spoiled rich bitch.

  • David on Middagh

    Damn carousel.

  • GHB

Ah, spring is here and Arch is still bitter!

  • fultonferryman

    F Jane’s Carousel.

  • fultonmountainmama

@ fultonferryman here, here!. . . and all the horses on it.
