@Lisa: I am so glad to hear that you guys are hanging in there. I’m glad you found the kind words to your family that people have written in these comments. I met you while you were putting up signs at the end of montague street and called Sean Casey Animal Rescue for you guys. This is just so devastating and I can’t imagine how you are all dealing.

@Matthew Parker: Thanks so much for your help! I have been worried about that lock at Hillside and had no idea it was such a quick solution. I sent a couple emails to friends of hillside but never heard back. When I got to the park this evening and saw the lock was fixed, I was ecstatic. Really, thank you so, so much.

To the family of BooBoo. I’m so sorry for your loss. I saw the signs in the neighborhood and was so hoping you would find her safe and sound.

I too am very sorry for Boo Boo and her family. It’s a terrible tragedy, and I am very sorry for their loss.

I have a question about how this happened, and I am hoping that BooBoo’s family can shed some light on it. I am wondering how she got on the BQE from the Promenade. Did she walk on, or did she fall onto it?

If she walked, the only way I can think is that she made it all the way to one of the onramps, and then walked onto the highway via an onramp.

Is there any chance that she fell from the Promenade? I am very concerned if there is any possibility that it happened this way. Without knowing more details, I would consider the falling scenario much more likely. If this is how it happened, we need to analyze further how that might have happened, and if it is a problem with the railings.

I would really appreciate it if BooBoo’s family could help us out here with some more details. If her death casts some light on a serious safety issue, we should follow up on it.

@susu why does it matter at this point? don’t you think it’s a little insensitive to ask them this question? how do you think they’d know anyways? the pet was lost – so they weren’t there.
let the poor family deal their loss of their beloved pet without them having to envision their tragedy again.
    i wish them the best.

@omg because if there is a problem with the railing (a spot with too big a space for example), it could happen again to another animal or a child.

In my 45+ years in Brooklyn Heights, I do not recall any children or pets falling through the Promenade railing. I don’t think that is something we need to worry about.

I dont know of any child going through the railings, but several young kid’s parents have allowed the kids to climb the fence and
I have watched two incidents of kids almost going over the fence.

Makkes you wonder where parents heads are….

You have to really watch all the time…
