Brooklyn Eagle Offices May Go to “Trendier” Gowanus

We noted earlier that the building housing the home offices of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle and allied papers, including the Brooklyn Heights Press, at 60 Henry Street, has been listed for sale. McBrooklyn now reports a rumor that the paper’s owners are looking at space in “trendier (and less expensive) Gowanus”, and may open a satellite office in DUMBO.

    That’s a smart move, as long it keeps them alive and strong, we need those historic newspapers

    Think what you will of the Eagle (and you undoubtedly will), but I for one will be sorry to see it go.

    It’s an institution with deep local roots that’s very much needed in a community–ours–that can use cultural resonance not derived from its housing stock only.
