Carlos Santana, Wife, Enjoy Valentine’s Dinner at Queen

The great guitarist and his wife visited our nabe for a romantic dinner:

Daily News: Carlos santana knows how to spot a diamond in the rough, at least when it comes to Italian cuisine. The legendary guitarist and his wife, Cindy Blackman, spent Valentine’s Day enjoying a $48 prix-fixe dinner at Brooklyn’s Queen Restaurant. Although surrounded by an inauspicious collection of bail bondsmen and fried chicken joints on Court St., the restaurant’s a 50-year-old-plus, family-owned gem. That’s amore!

Video after the jump.

Here’s Santana doing “Samba pa ti”:

The man feels every note, although that is a relatively restrained version of a song that still makes me tear up every time I hear it.

First band I ever saw live, with Tower of Power as the warm-up act, at the Fox Academy of Music.

I once helped a friend cater an post-performance party for him and his band for a show at Webster Hall. The man’s as honest off-stage as on.

I love Santana and I love Queen! Kinda odd that he would be eating there on Valentine’s Day though. He lives in CA. No shows scheduled locally. Did he come to NYC to spend valentine’s just to eat at Queen? Does he have a home in the neighborhood? Weird…

I have seen Santana three or four times. The show in Albany New York, probably in 1985 and was the absolute best concert I have ever seen. I was in the front row of a small venue called the Palace Theater. Between me and the e stage was nothing more than the orchestra pit and it was like having a private performance.

That’s amore, indeed. The last time I was at Queen….well, let’s just say that one paid a great deal for food that one could better prepare oneself. Even if one isn’t Italian. Or Italian-American. Or a cook.

Well, I take that last back….

Their cheesecake is ten times better than Junior’s.
