At Least They’re Real

A BHB tipster sent us this moldy display from a Henry Street eatery. We’re sure they’ve been freshened up by now and we do give kudos to them for not using icky plastic fruit as decoration. For the record, we prefer Moldy Peaches.

Good eye, Qfwfq! Why yes, moldy fruit is on display at the wine bar – frequently!

Given the moldy food I’ve bought at Kaufman’s BUSY CHEF which I mentioned in previous posts, I’m convinced the man is running some kind of spoor-growing lab in the basement. With the demise of Albert Hoffmann, he’ll probably be in the vanguard of the new drug pioneers. Lime-sergic acid diethylamide, anyone?

why does it not surprise me that there are serious mold problems at yet another one of dan kaufman’s establishments…

You’re all still haters. That wine bar is great and Busy Chef is expanding. It must kill all you negative people that they’re successful.

I actually am sorry that people are patronizing these places because they are truly awful and have a tacky mall food-court aesthetic – or like the Molly Pitcher rest stop on the Jersey Turnpike. Although, to be fair, the Molly Pitcher rest stop doesn’t offer penicillin.

Screech, trust me, the food will kill you before their success does.

success or survival of a restaurant in our neighborhood does not = quality. courthouse traffic allows an unbelievable number of terrible food options to prosper. down with BS!!!

With all the 90 year olds, Witnesses and dorm rats living in BH, perhaps there is just not enough people that go out to dinner or a nightcap to support any decent restaurants other than what exists for the court lunchtime crowd. Good thing CH and Dumbo are not much of a walk… But perhaps with new Love Lane apts, One Brooklyn Bridge, etc. things may change…may take a while though

i’m glad i’m not the only one who feels that way.

I think the reason I like going to the Wine Bar is that is that it has somehow found a formula that alienates the disagreeable (you know very well who you are) and retains individuals who are both interesting and sanguine.

Hey, you never know when you’ll need a hit of penicillin!

I am curious about this “busyCHEF” place. Who owns/manages/runs it and how many are there in the brooklyn area???
