Hey Loscalzo, cool blog. I lived in this building on Columbia Place in 1991. More like slept on a friend’s futon for months while I decided to get the hell out of the NJ and move to the Slope by the end of that year. Loved that French Quarter look, but alas, no one ever threw beads.

I lived in these buildings growing up from 1943 to 1958. The courtyard was my playground as well as playing stoop ball on the corner of Columbia Pl. and stickball on Joralemon ST. There was a dry goods store on the corner, and a German bakery on Columbia Pl.,, along with a Chinese laundry and a candy store called “Nat’s” owned by a Jewish family that lived in the back. We were a culturally diversified neigborhood in those days and were never at a loss to find something to do.
