Video Premiere (Sorta): John Legend, The Roots, Common & Melanie Fiona “Wake Up”, Shot in Brooklyn Heights

The John Legend video for “Wake Up” featuring the Roots, Common and Melanie Fiona, shot in Downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights has hit the interwebs.   The cover of the classic Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes song features a rap by Common, seen here in a funky 70s flashback motif shot on Cranberry Street.

    Excellent post bossman.

I tried to get a quick shot of the making of this video but was rebuffed. Here is my attempt:

I love the song”Wake Up”. If you listen carefully, the message of the lyrics is very powerful.

Great video, as usual Karl, from the lady who knows what the oldest house is in the Heights.

“No mo’ sleepin’ in bed….” Well, if more true American citizens (yes, of all colors) took that advice, we’d be pulling ourselves out of the proverbial dumps. It’s sad to realize that a majority of this nation is just waitin’ in bed for whatever Uncle Sam will plop in their mailbox.
