Despite the July 5 deadline for removal of the “play me, I’m yours” pianos, the one on the Borough Hall plaza remained in place and in use yesterday afternoon.

Update: Alas, the piano is now gone.

I don’t think that piano was an “authentic one”, meaning that it was not part of the official “play me, I’m yours”. It was the only one not painted with the logo and it did not have the official sheet music – and a cinder block instead of piano bench!

Even though this piano looked different than the others, this piano was part of the project. It is the Columbus Park location. (see attached)

Don’t know why this was left behind. Wish the one in Brooklyn Bridge park was left behind also. Really enjoyed music played there with the tremendous backdrop of Manhattan.

To the artist who thought of this idea to put the pianos in the surrounding areas, I tip my hat to you. However, you have opened a can of worms. This turn out has caused people to have an opportunity to express themselves like never before. In NYC, we have so many talented and wonderful people who’d love a chance to showcase their gifts in the most unique way. I am sorry that the pianos are gone, but they will never be forgotten. Thank you for the wonderful gift.

    Typo on reprieve

Thank you for courteously calling it a typo. It was a spelling error. The “i before e except after c” maxim slipped from my mind.
