Is the Heights Chateau wine tasting on Friday worth attending?

  • M

Has anyone been to Casa Tia on Atlantic Avenue? I used to enjoy the pizza at La Pizzetta but can’t find any reviews online of this new place that opened there. In fact, I can’t even find a phone number to call or an online menu should I want to order there on a rainy Tuesday night. Anyone have any info?

About those cables on the trees at Pierrepont Playground: the cables have been there for years, maybe more than a decade, and do not seem to have harmed the trees in any way.

However, there are lots of dead limbs and smaller branches on the ginko trees along the Promenade, which really should be cut off. Are there any trained and licensed arborists in BH who might be convinced to do this for the good of the neighborhood?

Lots of big dead limbs on trees, including on Middagh, which could only be reached by a cherry picker. They’re most noticeable this time of year.

M – Casa Tua is the same as La Pizetta. Same menu (slight changes, but mostly the same), same staff, etc. I believe they just changed owners. Everything else has been the same and it’s still good. Hubby and I are typically in there once a week. They also take credit cards now, whereas before they were cash only. Their website (which I just google for you) is http://www.casatuabrooklyn.com/ – online ordering FTW!

That was nice of you to post the Casa Tua menu –I only wish they bothered to substitute fresh mushrooms for the canned ones in their banner photo(!)

Yikes -nothing worse than finding that on a pizza pie :(

kindanewnabegirl: the advertised Heights Chateau tasting should be very good, given my experience with the store in general and the free tastings they host on most weekend, and some other, evenings. Evidently this one is a fundraiser for the preschool at which it’s being held, hence the admission charge. I’d expect a wide selection of wines, all good and some of top quality, along with some decent munchies.

I tried the River Deli the other day- the food was good and I’m glad something is there other than an empty store. However, I wish the people who work there had the guts to say something to the parents of the children who were running around screaming like tiny savages while people were trying to enjoy their dinner.

@W-Cop, I was there last night at 7, walked out because of exactly the conditions you noted. was really looking forward to trying the place out. this is a cancer that is starting to spread all over BH, not the kids, but the smug, “my brat can do anything they want” attitude. the River Deli lost business thanks to that `tude.

Thanks for the link! I guess I’ve been reading the sign wrong and googling
“Casa Tia” instead of Tua. Now I can’t wait to order some!

It’s good to see some comments above in support of the homeless.

I believe many of the homeless are mentally ill. Is it really in their best interests for them to be left to their own devices rather than be given shelter, proper food, & treatment?

  • K

The best way to help the homeless is to call 311 to report the person as homeless. The operator will connect you to the local outreach team who after you give them the location and description of the person will immediately go to the individual to offer shelter/housing assistance. They even offer to call you back and let you know how the encounter went.
