John Doman may be riding high now as one of the stars of HBO's The Wire but this celebrity neighbor most impresses us for his appearance on an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. That, friends, is the "big time". Our pals at the Brooklyn Daily Eagle caught up with the thesp of Willow Street recently.
Brooklyn Daily Eagle: Heights’ John Doman Makes It Big On HBO; Acting’s His Second Career : John Doman’s character on the HBO original series The Wire has been called an iron-fisted and ruthless “attack dog.”He plays William Rawls, the career focused deputy commissioner of operations of the Baltimore Police Department who often uses extraordinary means to get what he wants. The good news is twofold. First of all, despite speculation that HBO was pulling the plug on what Entertainment Weekly called “TV’s richest, most satisfying experience,” The Wire debuts its fourth season this Sunday. And secondly, John Doman himself happens to be a really nice guy. A Brooklyn Heights resident for the past 27 years, Doman came into the acting profession late in the game. It was a job in advertising that first brought him to Manhattan in 1972. “That will get me to New York. I’ll figure out this acting think later,” Doman recalled. “It took me 20 years.”
