New Walking Tours of the North and South Heights Coming 2/28

BHB pal Rich at GothamSideWalks tells us he’ll be conducting two tours of the Brooklyn Heights on 2/28:

11:00, North Brooklyn Heights: Writers & Religion
Explore this community’s controversial past through inspiring 19th church architecture, and the equally moving words of resident writers like Walt Whitman, Truman Capote, and Norman Mailer.
Meet under the Columbus statue on the north side of Cadman Plaza West near Montague Street. Trains: 2/3/4/5/M/R to Borough Hall

2:00, South Brooklyn Heights: Sailors & Scholars
Explore NYC’s 1st landmarked district using quotes of old resident writers like W.E.B. Dubois and H.P. Lovecraft. See the Clubhouse of the Jolly Bachelors, Willowtown, an array of exquisite architecture, and the waterfront vistas of the Promenade. We end on fantastical Montague Street.

I have gone on several GothamSideWalks tours and they’re a great way to enjoy the city. A friend and I did the inaugural Brooklyn Baseball Bike Tour last fall, as well as the Lower East Side Artists and Writers tour. Rich and Megan are highly knowledgeable, and they’re tours opened up new interests for me in the city.

Good looking out Lesley! We hope to keep you and your friends entertained and educated through many more tours.

The Lower East Side “Art Gallery Sampler” tour is THIS SATURDAY at 3. We had one today that went very well (Iranian American artist Afruz Amighi’s sculptures, great new Lesley Heller Gallery, etc., etc.!)
