Brooklyn Heights Rabbi to be Honored

Rabbi-LippeBHB.jpg Rabbi Serge Lippe will be honored by his congregants at The Brooklyn Heights Synagogue at a special black tie event on May 19.  The celebration of Lippe's contribution to the community will take place at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and catered by the world renown Abigail Kirsch company. Close to 500 supporters are expected to attend according to BHS.

There has been broad and heartfelt support to honor Serge because of his incredible leadership and the concern he has provided to all of us and our community," Susan Chadick, President of the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue comments.

Rabbi Lippe is credited for growing the membership of BHS, creating a "thriving" pre-school program and being active in community outreach, most via the Synagogue's homeless shelter on Remsen Street. He is also president of the Brooklyn Heights Inter-Faith Clergy Association. He became BHS rabbi in 1997 after a nationwide search.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Rabbi Lippe for several years, thanks to the Interfaith Weekends BHS has had with Grace Church. He is very deserving of this honor.
