    Cheers for L & H on almost every point but the most important: its food.

    It’s sure as heck (hmmm, haven’t used that word in years) not a real Jewish deli, but a deli-themed hodge-podge with nothing as good as it should or might be.

    In that regard, it’s got the BH culinary curse.

    I have to admit, calling L&H a deli is a bit of a joke. But seeing Bobby “Knockarino” Nocco reminisce about it had me on the floor.

    Nabe, you imply–if I’m following you–that Bobby has been on the receiving end a few too many triple left hooks, let’s say–yes?

    Otherwise, why the nickname?

    It was his nickname growing up, derived from his last name of Nocco. No particular rationale behind, just the nonsense that comes from kids heads after too many dull summer days hanging out on the corner . I guess you had to have been there.

    IMHO the food is perfect. And everyone who works there is really nice. Seeing the video makes me want to give them more business.

    Don’t mind us, Ilike, we’re just parsing pastrami’s. German deli, Jewish deli, doesn’t really make a difference if your stomach is happy. Although I’ll always miss the Schlemer’s daily-made, stove-cooked roast beef, soaked in kosher-salted pan drippings and sliced as thin as a politician’s ethics. Mmm, that was deli.

    They say small businesses are generating a majority of the new jobs in our country. I was impressed with the amount of jobs L&H creates. For this alone, I give him major kudos.

    I think the prepared stuff is good but I really love the bakery stuff, the red velvet cake and carrot cake are really yummy, excellent cream cheese icing! The staff is super friendly to me and my kids, I appreciate that most.
