BHA Spring Into Service May 7, 2023: Help Fill Food Pantries and Donate Gently Used Childrens’ Goods

The Brooklyn Heights Association’s annual Spring Into Service event is this Sunday starting at 10:00 a.m. There are three ways to participate this year.

1. Help Take Care of Our Trees – In partnership with City Councilmember Lincoln Restler’s office and the Big Reuse, BHA calls for volunteers to give our trees some needed TLC. Volunteers will help clean refuse out of tree beds, weed, cultivate soil with compost, and sweep around tree beds. (Update: This event is at capacity.)

2. Help Address Food Insecurity – BHA is partnering with The Service Collective to benefit food pantries at 3 local churches (St. Ann & Holy Trinity, First Presbyterian and St. Charles Borromeo), the food pantry at Breaking Ground (a permanent housing residence at 90 Sands St) and our community fridge at First Presbyterian Church. Volunteers will organize items, pack bags, and deliver them to these locations. To sign up, go to The Service Collective and click on “Volunteer.”  There are 6 different “events” to sign up for and each will be titled “BHA Spring into Service.” Need help?  Email info@thebha.org.

Donations of food pantry items are being collected at St. Ann & Holy Trinity on Montague St. on Thursday and Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, and on Saturday, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
