Joralemon Street between Henry & Clinton still has the tree barriers from the Con Ed work done several months ago. The street is narrow without the barriers but becomes extremely difficult to negotiate when folks pass. Is there anyone to complain to about removing the barriers?

What is the status of the Brooklyn Strand? Is the city just going to be tackling that piece by piece over the next few years?

Fascinating. Thanks for the link…. Kind of nuts that this joins the BQX or whatever the Astoria-to-Bay Ridge route was called as … interesting ideas that probably cost a few million dollars to get to “press conference” day – and not an inch further. But that was – he can’t exit soon enough – the Mayor who won 2 or 3 elections and would be ridden out on a rail if more of us thought it was worth the bother.

Speaking of which, hard to believe that as of mid-day, nobody’s used this forum to comment about what has to be a 99% chance that Lincoln Restler will be representing us the next 4 years.

Strikes me as an excellent choice. Heaven help us if we get as Mayor the hack now leading. True, de Blasio entered with many of us hoping he’d make the City a better place, … so maybe Adams would prove to be less corrupt and militaristic than he appears to be.

Maybe, he’ll even make enough noise to help get the schools fully open in September.

But RUDY’S CHOICE?! – that says it all in my book!

Here’s news about it from 2019. I suspect plans are in suspension because of Covid:

Blaming lack of progress on the mayor? Really? Will you blame the weather on him as well?

As far as the elections, many votes have not been counted. Also, the way the new form of voting works, it’s possible that so-called “front runners” the day after the election may not be the final winners.

It ain’t over till it’s over, as someone once said.

Another ancient photo. Here’s Jay Street looking toward Fulton, Sep. 23, 1928. Elevated train on Fulton is long gone, as is the Mutual Burlesque Theatre:

A fascinating map showing the mayoral primary results so far. Garcia is winning Brooklyn Heights by a wide margin (though not the rest of the city):

Anyone else notice they cleaned the Brooklyn Bridge? It’s a different color. Turns out it’s not brown but gray.

Start by calling 811. Really. My experience with it has been good over time, for all sorts of city-related problems. If there’s no one “on hand” to give help directly, they can usually supply a contact number.

The World Science Fiction Convention’s Hugo Awards have used the ranked voting method for decades. It’s possible for underdogs, or those initially getting fewer votes than the “front-runners” to win.

Just have to wait until the dust settles…

From Google: Officially, the DOT is calling the “original” color “Brooklyn Bridge Tan” — though, appallingly, the same agency had originally called this “original” color “Queensborough Tan” on its website.

    I suspect original color is “pigeon-poop gray”…

“Blaming lack of progress on the mayor?”I hope you are joking… Because it is clearly his fault. As far as who’s to blame for the weather? That is clearly on Obama.

Not sure what this link is for, but I can’t open it.

Yeah it was a spam link. Rare for this forum, thankfully, but also rare for this forum are good leads on housing. Best of luck!

San Blas on Montague has seemed pretty closed for a while. Can anyone confirm?

As someone else said, you do well to explore “below the radar” approaches, but the Nextdoor site has a larger and more active readership – I’ve seen numerous queries like yours there – but they DO make a little trickier to post…. You may need an assist from someone who’s already IN any neighborhood you’d like to move to.

First place I ever tasted Mexican Food. Around 1969. I recall thinking it wasn’t any better than the frozen Mexican style dinners I was buying at Bohack, at the foot of Love Lane.

LOL. How they limped into the 2000s before closing is beyond me. (Well, there IS some speculation in the archives here.) I’m pretty sure I tried it once in the mid ’90s, but if so, definitely ONLY once.

    What is “San blas”?

    I can confirm that I don’t care.

I remember back in the early 80’s it was a pretty good Mexican restaurant, by that eras standards. By the mid 90’s it had devolved into a nightmare.
