    According to my layperson’s understanding of relativity, all time occurs simultaneously and we only perceive it as linear.

    Looks like the end of Montague street! WOW. That is a big tree.

    Yes, it was a large downed tree at the entrance to the promenade from Montague. Here are a couple shots I took last night from the other side.

    Friends, I just lost my dear cat companion of many years. It may seem indecent, but I want another as soon as possible.

    Does anyone have any leads or suggestions about where I might adopt a cat? Do you know anyone who has a kitten she or he wishes to place in a good home (yes, mine). Doesn’t have to be in the nabe. Many thanks in advance.

    Sorry for your loss. You might try asking at Brooklyn Heights Veterinary (59 Hicks) They occasionally have or have leads to, pets for adoption.

    So sorry for your loss. What about the Cat Cafe on Montague Street? They literally exist to find cats a new home.

    One of the tipoffs as to its location is the domed lid trashcan in the shot. That tells you its on an entrance to the Promenade. Then you’ll note the ~10 story tall red brick building in the background that has a rounded tower runningthe height of the building.

    Absolutely astounding how the wrought iron fence wasn’t touched in the slightest (unlike the fence and ornate brick wall on Hicks at the foot of Grace Court Alley — it was DEMOLISHED).

    I wonder if they’ll be able to cut up that tree in such a way as to avoid it putting any weight on the fence and crushing it?

    Actually, I went by and took a look in person. The tree is impaled by the fence with the fence sticking into the tree by about 1 inch I would estimate. I don’t know if it was just absolutely astounding luck that the branches stopLed the tree from falling any further and crushing the fence or if the fence is just so well-built that it is supporting the weight of the tree.

    All of the downed branches and leaves should save the city some money on tree trimming this year. Now if only neighbors would start taking care of the weeds that grown knee-high along many sidewalks in the South Heights.

    I live in the house where the tree fell on our fence and wall. Cautiously optimistic that I have located a mason who can rebuild wall to its former beauty using the same bricks and coping. Iron fence damage is not that bad and should be able to be restored.

    My rental building always had a waiting list… Until the last few years. Now units turn over fast and sit empty between tenants.

    Solil manages three buildings in the neighborhood. Only 80 Cranberry (in your picture) has an active listing for a studio. Both that building and their other large one at 150 Remsen have rented out ten units (all one bedroom or studios) since April. They delisted three units in June.

    I assumed one bedrooms and studios would be vacant because the newly graduated who occupy them would rather move back in with their parents, but it seems they are finding renters.

    On the other end of the income spectrum, all the homeowners all keeping their places in Brooklyn Heights and buying second homes in Connecticut.
