The Brooklyn Historical Society’s monthly “Free Friday” will be this Friday, December 15. Entrance is free from 5:00 PM on until closing at 9:00. The theme this month is “Winter Myths,” which it offers as “an antidote to the holiday party circuit.” Victoria Flexner of Edible Brooklyn will expound on “the pagan roots of today’s seasonal traditions.” For the real woo-woo stuff, astrologer Alice Sparkly Kat (photo) “who aims to detangle astrology from colonization and the patriarchy, [will offer] her forecast for 2018.” After this you may want a cup of mulled wine, or a brew from Brooklyn Brewery, both of which will be available, though a donation may be requested. Adequately fueled, you may wish to “join in an introductory lesson on cult card game Magic: The Gathering by game expert, Peter Rawlings.” There’s more information here.
