Remembering Henrik Krogius

We at BHB are deeply saddened by the news that Henrik Krogius has died. His love of his adopted home, Brooklyn Heights, was hard to match. He was blessed with many talents: writer; historian (he wrote the definitive history of his beloved Brooklyn Heights Promenade); editor of the Brooklyn Heights Press for many years; TV news producer, winning an Emmy for his work at NBC; and photographer. Mr. Krogius was generous in giving encouragement to BHB in its early days. We will miss him greatly.

    What a great man. One of the great authorities of Brooklyn Heights. A highlight for me was having an extended conversation with Henrik at a Nets basketball game. The best of both worlds. Below is a video that Martin and I had the pleasure of doing with Henrik about the History of Promenade.

    I mourn his passing. Krogius was a wonderful source of knowledge about Brooklyn Heights, an author whose books about the Heights stand as a high-water mark for those doing research or just interested in the history of this community. As long as this area survives, his books will remain for us to access his knowledge.
