Yesterday (May 4) was the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Jane Jacobs (photo), and in her honor this weekend the Municipal Art Society of New York is presenting two “Jane’s Walks” at Brooklyn Bridge Park. These are both free, but require RSVP. On Saturday, May 7, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., you can get a sneak peek at the Pier 5 uplands, now under construction. More information and RSVP here. On Sunday, May 8, from 11:00 a.m. to noon, BBP Director of Horticulture Rebecca McMackin and others will guide you on a Flower Field Tour of Pier 6. More information and RSVP here.
MAS is also presenting many other Jane’s Walks in Brooklyn and in the other boroughs; more information here.
Correction: This post initially said the two walks at BBP are being presented by the Park. They are being presented by MAF, with the Park’s cooperation.
