Gina Ingoglia Weiner, late of Brooklyn Heights, served on the Board of Trustees of the Brooklyn Historical Society from 1990 to 2015. She was active in many civic associations, the author of over eighty children’s books, and a highly regarded artist and garden designer. To honor her memory, BHS has named an exhibition space (photo) for her, and has established the Gina Ingoglia Weiner Fund to support future exhibitions in that space. The Weiner family has generously offered to match donations to the Fund, received through June 30, 2016, up to $25,000.
The Gina Ingoglia Weiner Fund will ensure that her extraordinary devotion to the Brooklyn Historical Society and to Brooklyn and her remarkable artistic vision are celebrated in perpetuity through the ongoing exhibitions.
Currently on view in the Gina Ingoglia Weiner Gallery is Personal Correspondents: Photography and Letter Writing in Civil War Brooklyn, along with Brooklyn Abolitionists/In Pursuit of Freedom. There’s more information about these exhibits, as well as others at BHS, here.
