Last Minute Weekend Suggestions: Brooklyn Heights and Nearby

This Saturday afternoon, December 12 at 3:00, at the First Unitarian Church, 116 Pierrepont Street (between Monroe Place and Clinton), Theater 2020, Brooklyn Heights’ own professional theater company, will Present “A Radio Christmas Carol”, an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”,

by David Fuller and performed as a one hour Radio Play, complete with Foley Artist Sound Effects! This event includes an optional sing-a-long on some of the classics & a reception with the artists immediately following the concert. A lovely holiday tradition that is great for the whole family ages five years and up.

Admission is a a suggested donation of $20, but any donation gets you in the door. Cash at the door only; no reservations.

On Friday evening, December 11 at 8:00, Bargemusic presents pianist Alexandra Joan playing works by Kaija Saariaho, J.S. Bach, Arvo Part, Elliott Carter, and Schumann. On Saturday evening, December 12 at 8:00 and on Sunday afternoon, December 13 at 4:00 the Aeolus Quartet, joined by Alexander Bedenko on clarinet, will perform works by Dvořák and Brahms. Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated. The Heights Players continue their production of Neil Simon’s Rumors this weekend, with performances at the playhouse, 26 Willow Pace, on Friday evening, December 11 and Saturday evening, December 12 at 8:00, and on Sunday afternoon, December 13, at 2:00.
