Tomorrow, the Atlantic Avenue BID is hosting a tour of businesses that are part of the design industry.
The first tour, Home Goods, runs from 12pm – 2pm and begins at Kea Carpet (477 Atlantic Ave.). It includes:
From the Source – A Brooklyn-based furniture designer and manufacturer.
Bright Lyons – Rare and high-end designer mid-century modern furniture.
Circa Antiques Ltd. – Some of the best of Brooklyn’s past. Museum quality from 100 years ago.
Kea Carpets and Kilims – Azy Schecter is the rug designer who graduated from the School of Fine Arts, and before launching her own business worked as a rug designer for many high end companies. Includes hand-picked tribal designs from around the world.
Signum Collective Art and Design – Featuring many local designers, including a professor of industrial design from Pratt Institute.
Collier West – Local items, many which the store manager designs himself.
The second tour, Fashion, runs from 2:30pm – 4:30pm and begins at Planet Brooklyn Academy (517 Atlantic Ave.). It includes:
GirlCat– Anya Ponorovskaya designs all the clothes herself and manufactures in Manhattan. She will be there in person.
Written by Forest – Owner-designed jewelry by Yayoi Inada.
Bijoutique – Owner-designed wares using flowing, highly stylized, curvilinear designs of gold, silver and semi-precious stones.
Michelle New York – Contemporary women’s clothes, jewelry and accessories by Michelle Spence Fields.
Twisted Lilly – Designer fragrances from Brooklyn, Manhattan and abroad, chosen by Eric Weiser and Stamatis Birsimijoglou, co-owners who will be at the event.
Planet Brooklyn Academy – All designs are by Rob Norman, fashion designer and educator born and raised in Brooklyn.
