The Eagle’s Mary Frost reports that sources present at today’s meeting, closed to the press, between Judge Johnny Lee Baynes, who had earlier issued an order for SUNY to restore full staff levels at LICH, told her that Judge Baynes has ordered LICH and State Health Department lawyers back tomorrow (Tuesday, June 25) “regarding their compliance with the Temporary Restraining Order.”
Ms. Frost’s story also gives more details from the transcript of the hearing Wednesday, in which Judge Baynes said SUNY’s directive diverting ambulances from LICH’s emergency room was a “clear violation” of his order. At that hearing, he discussed the possibility of appointing a “special administrator” to take over the management of LICH from SUNY. He asked counsel for the state’s Department of Health if such an administrator would have to be approved by the Department. Told that the DOH would have to approve such an administrator, Judge Baynes asked that they give him a list of possible administrators who would be approved.
