Sister Helen Prejean, famous as the nun who became the spiritual adviser to a condemned criminal, a story popularized in the movie Dead Man Walking in which she is played by Susan Sarandon, will appear at Mary McDowell Friends Upper School, 23 Sidney Place, this Wednesday evening, May 15, starting at 7:00. Sr. Helen is the author of two books, Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States (on which the movie is based) and The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions. She is working on a third, River of Fire: My Spiritual Journey. Books will be available for purchase at the event, and Sr. Helen will sign them afterward.
