Subway Service Alerts: Weekend and the Following Week

It’s virtually an instant replay of last weekend. One extra “treat”: there’s no C train service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, in either direction, on Saturday or Sunday. Brooklyn bound A trains will be running as normal, but Manhattan bound A trains, just like last weekend, will be taking the F route from Jay Street-Metro Tech to West 4th Street. For service to lower Manhattan below 4th Street during these times, those traveling from the North Heights are advised to take the 2 or 3 from Clark Street or the N or R from Court Street to nearby Manhattan stops.

Those returning from Manhattan during the weekend should know that Brooklyn bound R and N (which replaces the R between midnight and 5:00 a.m.) trains won’t be stopping at 28th, 23rd, 8th, or Prince streets. To get back from these stops, you can either take an uptown train to 14th (from Prince or 8th) or 34th (from 23rd or 28th) and get a Brooklyn bound train there, or take the 1 local from a nearby stop and change to a 2 or 3 at 14th or Chambers.

Those traveling into Brooklyn should know that, between 6:00 a.m. Saturday and 10:00 p.m. Sunday, there will be no 3 train service beyond Franklin Avenue, and between 4:00 a.m. Saturday and 9:00 a.m. Sunday, no 4 service between Utica Avenue and New Lots Avenue. Too get to Utica or stations between there and Franklin, change to a 4 at Franklin, which will make all local stops. To get to New Lots or stations between there and Utica, shuttle buses will be provided. Also, as a repeat from two weekends ago, from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday, there will be no F service between Jay Street and 18th Avenue, and no G between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Bedford Avenue. Shuttle buses will provide alternative service.

The following week, there are no changes affecting service at any local station. There are some changes affecting late night service in Manhattan. Between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. (when it normally ends service) Monday through Thursday, C trains won’t be stopping at Spring, 23rd, or 50th streets in either direction. However, the E will provide service at Spring, and the D at 23rd and 50th; change to the A or C at 14th or Canal. The A will be running express between Canal and 145th streets in both directions from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. Again, the D provides alternative service above 4th Street, and the E at Spring Street; change to the A as noted above. Also, there won’t be any service in either direction on the 6th Avenue line (F train) between 14th and 57th streets between 10:00 p.m. an 5:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. F trains will take the A/C/E (8th Avenue) line during these hours.
