I walked by there yesterday. Yes, it’s pretty disgusting and a health hazard. The city needs to clean it up and install anti-bird devices on the overpass. Time to call 311 folks…

  • william

I agree that the Health Department or Sanitation Dept need to make an effort to correct the situation. I will be calling 311. We should also make our elected officials aware.

But, it isn’t within the BH district, and not in Cobble Hill. It is sort of in no-mans land.

Maybe Regina Meyer can spend some of her millions of dollars in taxpayer credits to have her useless, overpaid BBPC people pickup the dead birds. Let them use one of her 20 or so 4-wheel drive AT vehicles that the citizens of Brooklyn are indirectly paying for to clean-up the doorstep to her World Class Park (I mean, condo development).

Time for the BHA to fire up those lawyers and start filing lawsuits! The fact that it’s technically not Brooklyn Heights proper hasn’t mattered to them in the past. :-)

A dead body decomposes, not degrades.

Dead musicians decompose; dead teachers degrade.

  • Karl Junkersfeld

Topham, are you a forensic scientist? I’m not but I think the two can be used interchangeably.

Type in “corpse degrades” in google search and see if anything pops up.

    Here is the definition:

    de·grade (d-grd)
    v. de·grad·ed, de·grad·ing, de·grades
    v.tr.
    1. To reduce in grade, rank, or status; demote.
    2. To lower in dignity; dishonor or disgrace: a scandal that degraded the participants.
    3. To lower in moral or intellectual character; debase.
    4. To reduce in worth or value: degrade a currency.
    5. To impair in physical structure or function.
    6. Geology To lower or wear by erosion or weathering.
    7. To cause (an organic compound) to undergo degradation.
    v.intr.
    1. To fall below a normal state; deteriorate.
    2. To undergo degradation; decompose: a chemical that degrades rapidly.

Again, I’m not an English major but merely an ignorant soul just trying to get by.

    @Claude: Do dead texters de’K?

    Kthxbai

  • http://selfabsorbedboomer.blogspot.com Claude Scales

David: I suppose so, just as dead electrical engineers degenerate.

  • Topham Beauclerk

Karl, Claude is right: only dead teachers degrade.

I would hate to upset you, Karl. We’re all in your debt for your magnificent videos.

  • Heightsman

    This thread has devolved.

  • David on Middagh

    Decidedly.

    Topham,

    I’m not upset at all.

In fact, your comment about being indebted to me made my day. Thanks.

Ahem, but can we get back to the dead pigeon question. Given the location, does anyone know whose auspices this area falls under? Heights? Hill? BPP? Someone has to take responsibility for this turf and the carnage that’s littering it.
