The NY Post reports today on the “war” between Brooklyn based Red Hook Lobster Pound, which has set up shop on Fulton Landing, and Manhattan based Ditch Plains which received the concession at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 1.
The paper spoke to RHLP co-owner Susan Povich:
NY Post: “The [state] said they wanted to highlight the best of Brooklyn at the park. That’s their own words,” Povich said yesterday. She was quick to point out that her business — which opened about a mile south of the park on Van Brunt Street in 2009 — met that criteria.
“But I have no hard feelings. I’m really happy where I am,” she said.
Pamela Murphy, a Ditch Plains co-owner, said she was unaware of the competition but welcomes it. “The more the merrier. I think it’ll be a great summer for everyone,” she said.
