Meeting Wednesday to Discuss Atlantic Avenue BID

The Atlantic Avenue Business Improvement District Steering Committee will hold a meeting this Wednesday morning, April 28, from 9:30 to 11:00, at Long Island College Hospital, 399 Hicks Street, Avram Conference Center, Rooms C and D. All interested members of the community are invited. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the formation of a business improvement district for Atlantic Avenue. According to the Committee’s invitation, among the benefits of formation of a BID would be: preservation of historic lights; marketing and promotion; streetscape improvements and beautification projects; and increased access to funding and small business services. Refreshments will be served.

    to all the merchants and landowners. DONT EXCEPT THE BID. a bid is double taxation, You already pay for the street cleaning in your real estate taxes and the bid will commit 50 % of the budget to cleaning services. and about 20% of the remaining budget is for someone to run the bid. So whats left also the tax is based on frontage. I see al these illegal vendors up and down court st and they arnt paying the bid tax. why are they exempt from this bid Tax? A bid is just another way for the city to get out of services that they are collecting tax money for already

    According to the budget posted on-line; 30% for marketing, 6% for beautification/streetscape (mostly for the historical streetlights, JM), 17% for sanitation and security, and 47% for administration. But don’t except (sic) my word for it, go to:
