Three years ago today, Brooklyn Heights Blog was born. Thank you for reading, commenting and contributing since Day One. Without you, we’re just a bunch of folks ranting to ourselves.
BHB is your platform as much as it is ours. A personal note of thanks to super-commenters like Nabeguy, T.K. Small (also a contributor), AEB, Karl Junkersfeld, Publius, bornhere, lifer, GHB, Andrew Porter and the many, many others who give this site its lifesblood every single day.
When I conjured up this blog, I never dreamed that we’d have a “staff”. I just figured Qfwfq would make sure I didn’t crash the entire Internet with my usual “minor” alterations and that I’d write some pithy posts and share some pictures of the neighborhood.
Now, three years on I find myself in the position of having many collaborators and friends to thank for helping to make Brooklyn Heights Blog a part of the neighborhood — Mrs. Fink for putting up with my obsession, Qfwfq who keeps things running and even after all this is still my friend, Claude Scales for being, well, Claude Scales, Sarah Portlock for giving us some “real reporting”, Marc Hermann for always being an inspiration and a great contributor, Frances Kuffel for her great columns, Diana Rosenthal for breathing life into Cobble Hill Blog everyday, LA Slugocki for lending her special style to the blog, Mark Joyella for his video reports and to everyone else who has posted on BHB or sent us a news tip.
In addition, thanks to Gersh Kuntzman of the Brooklyn Paper who published a BHB photo in the first week of our existence and who has been a friend ever since. Thanks to Jonathan Butler at Brownstoner for linking to us and continuing to be an inspiration. Hide at DUMBONYC for being a great neighbor. William Crane and Lee Greenfeld the former owners of Magnetic Field for just being themselves. Adam Suerte at Brooklyn Tattoo for being one of the coolest people we know despite (or because of?) the tapdancing. Kudos to: EJ Cory, Steve Reynolds, Teddy Boy Eddie, Instaputz, Lynne Rosenberg, Jonah Eller Isaacs, Katherine Heller, Charles Star, Devon, Charlene and the rest of the Magnetic Field regulars for being the most fun people on Earth to hang out with.
Once again, thank you, our readers for your support.
Onward and upward,
Homer Fink, Publisher
