BREAKING: Pierrepont Playground Halloween Parade CANCELLED

For anyone asking “Hey, when does that Halloween Parade start?” and checking BHB to verify, The Pierrepont Playground Halloween Parade has been CANCELLED for Sunday. There will be an “Afternoon Of Fun”  tomorrow (Monday, 10/28/2019) at Pierrepont Playground from 3:30pm to 5pm, where, according to the organizers, you can “wear your costumes, do some crafts and enjoy all the treats we couldn’t eat today!”

Not a good day for a parade or the grand opening of the newest store of a “beloved” supermarket chain.

Update from the organizer this morning:

“Hi everyone – due to rain we are cancelling the parade today. BUT, we are inviting all children to dress up tomorrow, Monday, October 28th, and join us at Pierrepont from 3:30pm – 5:00pm. We’ll celebrate in costume together, craft, and enjoy any leftover treats that were baked for today’s parade.

Please spread the word! Hope to see you tomorrow!”

I have been accused of sometimes being too literal but crafts and treats from 3:30-5:00 is not an afternoon of fun; it is 90 minutes of fun, maybe. It’s not an afternoon of fun unless someone gets overly excited or exhausted and has a meltdown. Then you know there was some fun happening. Oh, and by the way, it was rocking at Wegman’s, downpour and all.

They should’ve held the parade this afternoon. The sun just peaked out.

There’s a parade on Henry Street in Cobble Hill on Thursday afternoon, I believe at about 4pm. It’s kids dressing up, usually accompanied by a small marching band. Right now, more rain is predicted but hopefully that will change by then.

Per lohud.com: 25,000 visitors to Wegman’s on Sunday, a record for a store opening.
