On Thursday evening, August 15, beginning at 6:30 (doors open at 6:00), the Brooklyn Historical Society will present a free screening of Watched: Coming of Age Under Surveillance, a documentary by Katie Mitchell that focuses on a group of Muslim women students at Brooklyn College who found that they were under NYPD surveillance. The screening will be followed by a discussion; details are here.
BHS is also presenting a series, “These Films Cannot be Trusted”, that features films “exploring themes of surveillance, media manipulation, conspiracy, and more!” These are free for BHS members, $%.00 for non-members. There’s a complete schedule here.
