Pianist Ursula Oppens (photo) begins Bargemusic’s weekend on Friday evening, December 7 at 7:00 with two pieces by Schubert and two by modern composers, one by Elliott Carter and one by Joan Tower.
On Saturday evening, December 8 at 6:00 and again on Sunday afternoon, December 9 at 4:00, violinist and Bargemusic’s Artistic Director Mark Peskanov, along with members of the Semplice Players, will perform works by J.S. Bach and Mendelssohn. Also on Sunday afternoon, at 2:00, pianist Olga Vinokur will perform a concert of transcriptions for solo piano by some composers of works by other composers, concluding with George Gershwin’s transcription of his own Rhapsody in Blue.
On Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, details here. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
