Bargemusic begins the weekend Friday evening, September 7 at 8:00 with a concert in honor of the American composer Ned Rorem (photo, Christian Steiner), who celebrates his 95th birthday this year. Pieces by Rorem, including a world premiere of his Pas de Trois for clarinet, violin, and piano, and by others composed in his honor, will be performed by Thomas Piercy on clarinet, Eiko Kano on violin, and Chen Yihan on piano.
On Saturday evening, September 8 at 6:00, and again on Sunday afternoon, September 9 at 4:00, violinist Mark Peskanov and pianist Rita Sloan will perform the first in a series of concerts presenting the complete piano and violin sonatas of J.S. Bach.
On Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, details here. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
