Subway Service Alerts: Brooklyn Heights and Vicinity

Once again, this coming weekend — 10:45 PM tomorrow (Friday, December 15) to 5:00 AM Monday, December 18 — there will be no 2 and 3 train service (meaning no service at Clark Street or on the 2/3 platforms at Borough Hall), which will be a fact of life every weekend until sometime next summer. As usual, during the absence of 2/3 service, 4 an, d 5 (5 trains don’t usually serve Brooklyn on weekends) will provide alternate service to and into Brooklyn. Also this weekend — from 9:45 PM Friday to 5:00 AM Monday — there will be no service in either direction at Court Street or on the R/N platforms at Jay Street-Metro Tech, as R and N trains are being diverted to the Q line between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue. With no 2/3 or R/N service, your options this weekend are limited to 4/5 at Borough Hall, A/C at High or Jay Street, or F at Jay.

The following work week — Monday, December 18 to Friday, December 22, preceding the Christmas weekend — each night from 9:45 PM to 5:00 PM there will be no service in either direction at the 4/5 platforms at Borough Hall, as 4 trains will terminate and originate at Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan, and 5 trains don’t serve Brooklyn during these hours. During these same late night hours A trains will be diverted to the F line in both directions between West 4th Street and Jay Street. This means no service at High Street, as C trains don’t run late at night. During these late hours, your options are the 2 at Clark Street or Borough Hall, the N (the R doesn’t run late) at Court Street, or the A or F at Jay Street or York Street in DUMBO.

For planned service changes that may affect travel on other parts of the system, either during the weekend or the following week, and for unplanned disruptions, see MTA Info.
