Pianist Sonya Lifschitz (photo) starts this weekend’s concert series at Bargemusic on Friday evening, December 16 at 7:30, playing works by Tchaikovsky and Crumb (George, not R.). On Saturday evening, December 17 at 7:30, and on Sunday afternoon, December 18 at 4:00, the Borromeo String Quartet will perform works by Mozart, Russell Platt, and Beethoven. Looking ahead, on Saturday evening, December 24 at 7:30 pianist Jeewon Park will celebrate Christmas Eve (and Hanukkah!) with J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Mark Peskanov on violin and Jeffrey Swann on piano will ring out the old year (good riddance, in your correspondent’s view) on Saturday evening, December 31 at 7:30 with a New Year’s Eve concert featuring the complete Bach Sonatas for Violin and Keyboard. There are details for each concert and you may buy tickets here.
This Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
