Election Night at the Cat Cafe

Scientific studies show that the company of an animal can help to reduce stress, so the good folks at Brooklyn Cat Cafe are doing their part to help us get through election night.

Head to the cafe (149 Atlantic Ave, between Henry and Clinton) on Tuesday night to watch the returns (and some cat videos) and play with the resident cats and kittens.

Refreshments will be available, and Brooklyn Brewery is providing the beer.

Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door for this 21+ event; proceeds benefit the rescue, TNR, and adoption work of the cafe and Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition.  You can purchase tickets at the cat cafe website.

Anyone know of other gatherings in/near the neighborhood?

This more than most events I really enjoy experiencing in public, feeling the energy of the whole community.

We’re all in this together, whether we like where we’re going or not.

Hillary’s HQ is right at the end of Pierrepont. I haven’t found anything “official”, but I imagine a crowd with gather there…if she’s on her way to victory :)

You gotta be kitten me! We need to take this seri-hisssssly.

  • Andrew Porter

Errr, I hate to tell you, but a lot of those cute dog- and cat- photos from the late 1800s, early 1900s, were staged, using dead animals, from the era when unwanted kittens and puppies were usually killed.

NYPD dropped off a lot of French barricades in front of 1 Pierrepont, although I have no knowledge how they will be configured and for whom.

    E-lick-tion rigging! (Meow.)

Sadly, a lot of them were. I researched this image and the photographer before using it in the flyer. More info on Harry Whittier Frees (1879-1953): http://www.lifewithcats.tv/2015/12/22/frees-victorian-cat-photographs-kind-of-creepy-but-not-cruel/

A local parent is spearheading a street party at the corner of President Street and Clinton Street. They’ll be watching the returns there live.

Thanks. A bizarre era, replaced by YouTube (which can be pretty bizarre too).

I vote for one of the cats.

Hey StudioBrooklyn, don’t forget our agreement about the painting!

  • StudioBrooklyn

Uh oh…what was the agreement again? I’ll still probably uphold it but need a reminder. Sometimes I drink and comment. :)

If he wins you paint me a scene of a fire-breathing “Trumpzilla” destroying Washington DC.

  • StudioBrooklyn

    Will you accept a drawing?

    God has saved our country.
A great evil has been defeated
A snake from hell has been beheaded
and hurled back into the inferno from which it came….

^ I didn’t realize the Russian trolls had the BHB on their radar too. A horrifying day for this country. I can only feel slightly better knowing that my neighbors here in Brooklyn voted overwhelmingly for Clinton.

  • DIBS

It would appear that it’s not the Republican party that has fractured apart but the Democrats. What was concerting that Trump’s speech moved the DOW Futures from down over 1,000 to down only 300.

I’d rather it be painting, but perhaps we can work something out. I must say this is one bet I wish I didn’t win…

  • StudioBrooklyn

Sorry man, I’m a little swamped. Drawing’s gonna have to work. When I’ve finished it, I’m thinking I’ll hide it somewhere in the neighborhood (with a business card–ready to unmask!) and send you instructions to pick it up. It’ll be fun.

Yes, we kept the Nazis from ruling the world!

Unless you mean something else, in which case [expletive deleted]…
