This weekend Bargemusic presents a “Here and Now” Labor Day Festival of contemporary music. It actually began this (Wednesday) evening, which your correspondent failed to notice and for which he offers his heartfelt apology. It will continue Friday evening, September 2 at 8:00; Saturday evening, September 3 at 8:00, and Sunday afternoon, September 4 at 4:00. Composers whose works will be played are Gregor Huebner, James Nyoraku Schlefer, Paul Frucht, David Shohl, David Taylor, Daron Hagen, W.T.F. Bach, and Frederic Rzewski, performed by an all-star lineup of musicians that includes some of the composers, including W.T.F. Bach (image), who is said to play a mean bass, although in this festival he plays piano. There are details for each concert and you may buy tickets here.
Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
