Fortis Finally Closes on LICH Acquisition; Shake-Up at CHA

Update: “Fool me once….” It seems the closing isn’t “final” yet. See this Eagle story for details. Crain’s reports that Fortis Property Group has finally closed on its acquisition of the Long Island College Hospital site. Meanwhile, as the Eagle reports, Cobble Hill Association president Roy Sloane has resigned following a controversy over whether the CHA should participate, as Sloane favored, in a discussion arranged by City Council member Brad Lander, who represents Cobble Hill, between community representatives on one side and Fortis, along with its architects, on the other.

Other than the offered up discussion between CHA, Brad, and Fortes (who just closed the acquisition), what is alternative strategy?

Those who questioned Sloane’s strategy believe there is a possibility of legal action that would (here I’m speculating) either undo the sale of the LICH site to Fortis, or prevent Fortis from executing either its “as of right” plan or the “preferred” plan, to which many in the Cobble Hill community object.

It would be great if Fortis had to cut the size of this project in half.
