According to Gothamist, the office manager and other employees of EBrooklyn Media, publishers of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle and Brooklyn Heights Press, were surprised to see a drone (not the one in the photo, but similar) hovering near their 30th floor office windows at 16 Court Street, at the corner of Montague, on Thursday. The manager at first thought it a toy, then noticed its camera. It turns out, though, that the drone wasn’t trying to steal a scoop; it was being flown by a “real estate architect” who is working on the design of a new building to replace 189 Montague, which, as we earlier reported, is slated for demolition. The architect was using the drone in connection with design work.
The Gothamist piece reports that the architect was given a criminal summons for violation of a law governing “aviation in and over the city,” and the drone was confiscated.
