Squadron Is Friend To Our Best Friends

As the Eagle reports, the Hillside Dog Park urgently needed a delivery of fresh wood chips which, spread on the Park’s ground, “keep the dust (and the smell) down.” A delivery wasn’t scheduled until August. Park users contacted the office of State Senator Daniel Squadron, and he was able to get the delivery advanced to July 14. For this, according to the Eagle’s Mary Frost, the “dogs give appl-paws.”

And for anyone interested in helping out, we will be shoveling, raking, wheelbarrowing and otherwise spreading and distributing those wood chips this coming Saturday, July 18. The weather looks like it will cooperate, so you can work on your tan, get some exercise, chat with your neighbors and help out the pooches all in one go. Also a great way to involve kids in a community project. All the equipment will be there, just bring yourselves and a bottle of water.

I recycle small plastic bags, bringing them over and putting them in the boxes on the gates, for people to use to pick up their dog poop. Every time I do this, the boxes are always empty. And I don’t even have a dog!
