Theater 2020, Brooklyn Heights’ own professional stage company, will present THE Real MERRY HouseWIVES OF WINDSOR, Connecticut, a re-envisioning of Shakespeare’s comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor as a contemporary reality TV show:
A middle aged, overweight Casanova woos two society women in a wealthy Connecticut suburb, while parents debate over who should win the hand of their debutante daughter…who loves another girl! Watch one of Shakespeare’s most memorable characters “Falstaff,” in this hilarious comedy, set in the “reality” of 2015.
The play is directed by the Heights’ own Judith Jarosz; the part of Falstaff is played by her husband, David Fuller (see video).
Performances begin this weekend at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 19 Sidney Place, starting at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23, with a matinee at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 24. It will continue for the succeeding two weekends: May 29-31 and June 5-7 on the same schedule. Tickets are $18, and may be purchased at the Theater 2020 website or through Brown Paper Tickets.
