This weekend the Heights Players premiere their production of Thornton Wilder’s The Skin of Our Teeth. Performances are Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 at 8:00 p.m., and a Sunday matinee, March 8 at 2:00 p.m., at the Playhouse, 26 Willow Place. This weekend is your last chance to see Theater 2020’s The Singapore Mikado, with performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00, and a Sunday matinee at 3:00, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 19 Sidney Place. Get tickets here.
Bargemusic’s concert on Friday evening at 8:00 features works by Mozart, Akio Yashiro, and Yukiko Nishimura performed on dual pianos by Sara Davis Buechener and Michael Brown. On Saturday evening at 8:00 there’s more piano music, as Jeffrey Swann plays works by Mozart, Debussy, Busoni, and Chopin. Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pianist Swann returns, joined by his fellow members of Trio Combray, to perform works by Saint-Saëns, Fauré, and Ravel. There’s more information and buy tickets here. Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
On Saturday afternoon at 3:00, aspiring photographers (including your correspondent) are invited to join Brooklyn Bridge Park’s photographer Alexa Hoyer to learn about composition, lighting, and depth of field while touring the Park. This event begins at the Conservancy’s headquarters, 334 Furman Street (at the foot of Joralemon, just past the BQE underpass). It’s free, but please RSVP here.
