Want to Live Above a Bank in Brooklyn Heights? It’ll Cost a Pretty Penny

According to Curbed and the Times, prices for condo apartments at 177 Montague Street, above the Chase Bank branch at the corner of Montague and Clinton, will range from $3.35 million to $4.35 million. Several of the apartments will be duplexes, and the top floor will have no windows, but will have “operable skylights.”

Oh if only Landmarks had included the block from Clinton to Court as ‘protected’.

The building itself is landmarked, and the modifications to include apartments were approved by CB 2’s Land Use Committee and by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. That’s probably why no new windows were made on the top floor.

Thanks for the explanation. So are the apartments all going to be above the present structure, or will they be using the upper part of the bank as well as building up?

The apartments will all be in the present structure, above the bank (with its magnificent vaulted room), in space previously used for law firm offices.
