Housing Works on Montague is Open

Housing Works storeSeems like only yesterday we were discussing the demise of Fish's Eddy…

The new Housing Works store opens Friday, January 19th according to their website: "Housing Works Thrift Shops have finally come to Brooklyn! Our new [HOME] in Brooklyn marks another step in our agency-wide commitment to the borough, which has the highest rate of AIDS infection in the city. In 2005 we moved our corporate headquarters to Willoughby St, and late last year we announced our new Brooklyn day treatment center."

Housing Works does good work for those with AIDS, and their stores are usually a delight to peruse. They are also a good place to donate all that old stuff you don't need anymore.

Also note: They are looking for volunteers to help out in the store.

I couldn’t be happier. I’ve allways gone to the locations in the city. Hopefully they have some space for some cool furniture. I’m addicted to strange chairs.

As of last weekend, they had mostly clothing, shoes, and books. It seems to be a smaller space than their 23rd street or 17th street stores.

They seem to be going for the “i need a slightly used blazer” demographic.
