What a busy week of community meetings! We’ll have a full calendar of the month’s meetings soon, but for now, here’s a round-up of the week:
• On Tuesday, March 3, Community Board 2’s Economic Development committee will hold its monthly meeting at the Jonas Board Room at Long island University, at the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Flatbush Avenue Extension. The meeting is at 6 pm, and is open to the public.
At the meeting, the Montague Street Business Improvement District executive director, Chelsea Mauldin, will talk about what kinds of work the BID does in the neighborhood as part of a new series in which the committee will invite local BID directors to talk about their neighborhoods.
• On Wednesday, March 4, CB2’s Health, Environment and Social Services committee will meet at Brooklyn Hospital’s north pavilion (DeKalb Avenue at Fort Greene Place), in Conference room 3A and 3B, at 6 pm.
On tap are a series of liquor license applications and a talk by a State Liquor Authority representative, who will explain how the agency works and its relationship with the community board.
• And on Thursday, March 5, Borough President Marty Markowitz and Brooklyn’s Community Educational Councils will host a public hearing on mayoral control of the schools. The meeting is in the Borough Hall Courtroom at 209 Joralemon Street, between Court and Adams streets, from 6 to 8 pm.
