Once again this weekend it’s the turn of the MTA’s awkward stepchild, the G train, to act up. From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday there will be no service in either direction between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Avenue. You can use the F train from Jay Street-Metro Tech as an option, but from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday Manhattan-bound F trains will be making express stops only on this route. So, to get back from Fort Hamilton Parkway, 15th Street-Prospect Park, 4th Avenue-9th Street, Smith-9th Streets, Carroll Street, or Bergen Street, take a Coney Island bound F to 7th Avenue or Church Avenue and change to a Manhattan bound F there. G service from Hoyt-Schermerhorn to Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Queens will also be affected: all weekend trains between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues will operate every twenty minutes. To go on from Bedford-Nostrand to Queens, you’ll need to change to another G train there. apart from this, and the continuing R train mishigas (thanks, skunky and GHB), there are no planned changes at this time directly affecting weekend service at any local stations.
The following week, from 11:45 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday to Friday, Brooklyn bound A trains will be re-routed over the F line from West 4th Street in Manhattan to Jay Street. This means no service from Manhattan, or into Brooklyn, at High Street (the C train doesn’t run during these hours). You can get off at York Street in DUMBO and walk uphill, or go to Jay and catch a Manhattan bound A back to High Street.
For planned service changes that may affect travel on other parts of the system, see MTA Info or The Weekender.
