May Day Frolic: The Annual St. Ann’s Puppet Parade

The annual St. Ann’s School Puppet Parade—Brooklyn Heights’ version of a kiddie Mardi Gras—made its way down Montague Street to the Promenade early Wednesday afternoon, on this May Day 2013. As usual, the street was filled with the rat-a-tat of percussion, alongside pint-size clowns, jugglers, 10-foot-tall marionette puppets, accompanied by hundreds of pre-school, primary, middle and high school students.

This year’s parade was originally scheduled for last Monday, but rain delayed it until this picture-perfect day. Puppets are created at the private school, 129 Pierrepont Street, specifically for annual gala. (Photos: CT & BHB reader Ionna)
